AbdulRazaq, Oloriegbe, Oba Abu others mourn “Ajanasi Agba” of Ilorin, Bature

The Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mall AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Senator representing Kwara Central at the National Assembly, Yahaya Oloriegbe a Former Chairman, Federal Character Commission, Professor Oba Abdulraheem, and the Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association have mourned the death of a top Islamic cleric in the state, Alhaji Hassan Yusuf Bature.

Bature, who was the Ajanasi Agba of Ilorin Emirate, died in the early hours of today in Ilorin at the age of 71.

AbdulRazaq in a statement by his spokesperson, Rafiu Ajakaye said, “As the Chief interpreter for the entire Ilorin and a distinguished elder statesman, the contributions of the late Ajanasi Agba to the growth of our community are not in doubt.”

“The Ajanasi Agba and his erudition will be sorely missed. The Governor commiserates with the entire Ilorin Emirate, the Islamic scholarship community, his immediate family, and associates. He prays the Almighty Allah to grant him al-jannaah Firdaus,” he said.

In a release Sen. Oloriegbe, he said, “The position of the late Ajanasi Agba in Ilorin traditional and religious institutions is such a huge one which makes the death of our late Shaykh a colossal loss. We can, however, take solace in the fact that he lived a purposeful life dedicated to the service of Islam and his immediate community.”

He added, “It is my prayer to almighty Allah to erase all his transgressions and reckon him amongst His noblest servants.”

Also, the Talba of Ilorin Emirate, Prof. Shuaibu Oba AbdulRaheem, OFR, has described the death as “shocking and unfortunate”.

Oba Abu said that the death of the cleric at this point-in-time was very painful in view of the fact that the Ilorin Emirate community and indeed the nation require the wisdom and experiences of people of his stock to navigate out of the present challenges.

Meanwhile, the Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association described the death as a great loss to the Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State.
