7 killed in Kogi lone accident

Bus summersaults on Lagos-Ibadan expressway, claims two lives The Informant247

The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed no fewer than seven persons after the bus they were travelling in somersaulted at Okura in Ankpa Local Government Area of the State on Saturday.

The Informant247 gathered that the  Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Samuel Oyedeji, had earlier confirmed three persons dead, but the state Police Public Relations Officer SP William Aya, in a  response on Saturday, said seven people lost their lives.

He said, “It was a lone motor accident along Ankpa/Okura/Egume/Ayingba road that involved a Toyota Hiace Bus.

“The accident occurred at Okura, where the bus somersaulted into the bush; the driver and six other passengers lost their lives.”

Although he could not confirm the identities of the victims, sources said they were members of the Social Democratic Party, who were on their way to Ayingba for a stakeholders’ meeting.

Contacted, the spokesman for the SDP, Faruk Adejo-Audu, said he was not aware of the accident but promised to find out and revert.
