A Makurdi’ Court on Thursday directed that a student, David Terhemba, be remanded in a correction facility over alleged armed robbery and cultism.
Magistrate Ajuma Igama, has rejected the suspect’s plea for want of jurisdiction.
She has adjourned the case until November, for further investigation.
Insp Stella Ngbede, who’s the Prosecution Counsel informed the court that the report of the matter was made known by Samuel Alexander, Ogah Joshua, and Dada Abdulkarim.
She revealed that the complainants made the report that Terhemba, two other persons illegally entered their houses and robbed them of their property at gunpoint.
The prosecutor added that Terhemba and accomplices illegally took away one JVC television, Infinix S4 and one iPhone 6x.
She also added that the stolen items were regained from the suspect except for the Tecno Spark 8c.
Ngbede also revealed that investigation into the case was still on-going and persuaded the court for an adjournment.
She revealed that the offence was in contravention of the provisions of sections 6(b), 1(1)(2)(a)(b) of the robbery and firearms special provision act 2004 and Section 11 of the Abduction, Hostage-Taking, Kidnapping, secret cult and similar activities prohibition laws of 2017.
