51-year-old man in court for allegedly stealing diesel
Makinde Samson, 51, appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun on Friday for allegedly stealing 240 litres of fuel worth N173,000 from his employer.
Samson, whose residence was not given, is accused of stealing.
The prosecution, Insp. E. O. Adaraloye, informed the court that the defendant committed the crime on January 1, 2009, at around 9.30 p.m. at OG, 2009, Gasline Bus-Stop, Iju, Ota.
Adaraloye claimed that the defendant, a P&G Firm employee, took 240 litres of fuel from the company.
According to the prosecution, the offence violated Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The defendant, on the other hand, pled not guilty to the accusation.
Magistrate A. O. Adeyemi granted the defendant N200,000 bail with one surety.
Adeyemi ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and should be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun government.
She adjourned the case until Feb.14 for further hearing.
