33-yr-old man in court over alleged defilement of 11-yr-old girl

A 33- year-old man, identified as Emmanuel Orji, was on Friday docked in an Ikeja Chief Magistrate’s Court over alleged ”grope” of an 11-year-old girl.

The defendant, who’s also a trader lives at 33, Apena St., Ago Okota, Lagos.

The defendant has been charged with an attempt to defile a minor and sexual assault.

ASP Raji Akeem, who’s the Prosecution Counsel, informed the court that the offence was carried out on September 7 at the residence of the accused.

Akeem narrated that the defendant had deceived the small girl to his shop and groped her.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 135 and 262 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

Orji has however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Mrs B. O Osunsanmi who’s the Chief Magistrate, has accepted to grant the defendant bail of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The matter has been adjourned until October 30 for mention.
