27-yr-old man charged with alleged drug trafficking in Lagos
A 27-year-old Mustapha Habu, has been charged by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) before a Federal High Court, Lagos, over alleged drug trafficking.
Habu, who’s not employed has been charged on a count of non legal trafficking of restricted narcotics in a signed charge by the prosecutor of the agency, Mrs N. J. Mamza.
The prosecution made an allegation that the defendant carried out the offence on September 17, at the Alaba Suru area of Lagos.
Mamza added that the defendant made a trafficking of 378g of cannabis which is also known as Indian hemp, without authority of the law.
The prosecution stated that the cannabis is a narcotic that is not strange to heroin, cocaine and other substances, all enumerated in the schedule of the NDLEA as prohibited.
She added that the offence was not in contravention of Section 11 (c) of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30 Law of the Federation, 2004.
The Act made a specification of a penalty of life imprisonment, if found guilty of the offence.
No date has been scheduled for the defendant to reappear in court.
