2027 Hajj: Kwara announces N5m initial payment, sets November deadline for balance
The Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced an initial payment of N5 million for intending pilgrims as preparations begin for the 2027 Hajj.
The Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Abdulsalam Abdulkadir, disclosed this while speaking on a radio programme, saying intending pilgrims were expected to pay the balance of the Hajj fare on or before the end of November 2026.
Abdulkadir urged intending pilgrims to make payments only through the designated banks using approved bank drafts and ensure that all required documents were submitted on time.
He also advised pilgrims whose international passports would expire before April 2027 to renew them promptly to avoid documentation challenges during the pilgrimage.
The executive secretary stressed that intending pilgrims must ensure their travel documents remain valid throughout the period required for the Hajj.
Abdulkadir said the Board had also improved its airlift arrangements, increasing its capacity from about 260 pilgrims per trip to approximately 560 pilgrims.
He said the increase had reduced the number of trips required to transport Kwara pilgrims from about 15 to four.
According to him, the development would shorten the airlift period and contribute to a smoother and more convenient pilgrimage experience.
The Board called on intending pilgrims to adhere strictly to the approved payment schedule, use only designated payment channels and comply with all official guidelines as preparations for the 2027 Hajj continue.
Abdulkadir assured intending pilgrims that their welfare remained a priority, adding that the Board was committed to effective coordination and improved services throughout the pilgrimage.
He appreciated Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his support for the Board and the welfare of Muslim pilgrims in the state.
He also thanked the Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Board staff, agents and intending pilgrims for their cooperation and support.
