The political team of the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has reportedly dismembered themselves from the campaign Council of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar.
The Informant247 observes that there have been crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The resolution was reached shortly after a meeting early on Wednesday morning in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State.
The Informant247 learnt that members of the political team of the Governor of Rivers State, during the meeting, made a vow to participate in the activities of Atiku’s campaign ahead of the 2023 general elections.
They said they have no business in the forthcoming presidential election until Senator Iyorchia Ayu, the National Chairman of the main opposition party, resigns his appointment.
Olabode George, a chieftain of the PDP, read a communique in the meeting at the village home of Governor Wike.
They said unless Ayu present his resignation letter and get replaced by an Acting southern chairman, the team would never play any role in the campaign activities.
Some of the key political actors who were at the meeting included Bode George, former Governors of Ondo, Olusegun Mimiko, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Donald Duke of Cross River, Ayo Fayose of Ekiti States, Jonah Jang of Plateau, Prof Jerry Gana, among others.
A source revealed that the meeting which began at about 7pm on Tuesday night, went on till about 3 a.m. on Wednesday.
The Informant247 recalls that the loyalists of Wike in the main opposition party had called for the resignation of the party chairman, Ayu as the only way to restore peace in the party.
