2023: Emefiele can no longer be trusted with sensitive election materials – PDP

The leading opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned as “reckless, irresponsible and unpardonable,” the comment made by the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, where he said he was having a lot of fun, and Nigerians should have heart attack.

The PDP said the comment of the CBN governor, has indicated that he could no longer be trusted with sensitive materials of elections.

The national spokesperson of the opposition party, Debo Ologunagba, via a statement said that the CBN governor’s comment was enough to “trigger a nationwide restiveness, pitch Nigerians against the CBN, shut down the economy and destabilise the polity.”

He also noted that “he cannot continue as CBN governor, having become partisan as a card-carrying member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The CBN, which keeps all sensitive materials for elections cannot be trusted with the custody of such materials with a biased Emefiele at the helm of affairs.”
