2 friends remanded in prison over alleged attempted homicide

Two friends, Ngbede Ogili and Adikwu Alexander were on Wednesday remanded in a correctional facility for alleged attempted homicide.

They were allegedly remanded on the order of a Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday for alleged attempted homicide.

They were charged by the police with cause of grievous hurt, conspiracy and attempted culpable homicide.

Sonia Yaikyur, the Magistrate rejected the plea of the suspects for want in jurisdiction.

Yaikyur ordered that the police investigations into the matter should proceed.

She has adjourned the matter until February 3 for further mention.

Insp. James Ewache, the Police Prosecutor, earlier informed the court that the matter was brought to the awareness of the law enforcement agency by Ms Mary Obiabo residing at Ogbeche Adoka LGA Benue, on Oct 31.

Ewache informed the court that the accomplices of the suspect, Ngbede Ogili, Adikwu Alexander, Egbe Idoko, John Ajawu and Gabriel Okwoli invaded the residence of the complainants searching for her son Eche.

The police added that on seeing him, they severely injured him on his hands and neck with a matchete.

The prosecutor also said investigation into the matter was still proceeding and persuaded the court for an adjournment of the sitting.

He also said the offence was in contravention of sections 97, 248 and 230 of the Penal cCde laws of Benue 2004.
