Cultism is not alien to Kwara State as its rampancy can not be underestimated in various tertiary institutions in the state arousing fears and terror within the length and breadth of the state, but in recent times the tide of cultism seemed to have been totally stemmed.
About 11:30 p.m last Sunday, there was eruption of violence in the morning when a member of the Eiye Confraternity, Jimoh other known as Ojonla, a former aide to late chairman, Indomie was killed by the Aiye Confraternity, a rival cult at Ikokoro area, in front of one Alhaji Azeez’s house. Ojonla was said to have suffered a horrible death as his head was smashed with a mortal and hefty stone after several bullets shot at him could not penetrate his body.
The Eiye, in a reprisal attack mobilized its members in the evening and killed a member of the Aiye Confraternity, Yusuf popularly known as Coded at a place called Doctor’s Clinic, close to Niger Motel in Ilorin to avenge the killing of its member.
The reason for these heinous killings remains unknown.
