Following the completion of the 2-day warning strike, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Wednesday directed civil servants to resume back to their various workplaces
The union, in a statement on Wednesday, asked its members across the country to resume work on Thursday.
“As we mark the end of the two-day nationwide warning strike today, at the stroke of midnight, we earnestly call upon you all to gracefully conclude the strike and return to work tomorrow, by our initial agreement,” the statement signed by Joe Ajaero, NLC president, reads.
It would be recalled that the labour union had, last Friday, directed its members to embark on a two-day warning strike over the impact of petrol subsidy removal on the masses.
The strike commenced on Tuesday, September 5.
According to the statement, Ajaero commended affiliate unions and state chapters for their active participation in the warning strike, adding the same passion that triggered the warning strike would be necessary for an indefinite strike if the government fails to respond to their demands.
“It is abundantly clear that our united message has resonated loudly with the government, and it would take a truly inattentive ear not to hear it,” the NLC president said.
“As we mark the end of the two-day nationwide warning strike today, at midnight, we earnestly call upon you all to gracefully conclude the strike and return to work tomorrow by our initial agreement.
“We would like to take this moment to express our profound appreciation for your unwavering determination and dedication, which played a pivotal role in the resounding success of this action.
“Your contributions during this warning strike exemplify your unwavering commitment to our shared cause.”
