176 Woro abductees still in captivity, NDC urges AbdulRazaq to intensify rescue efforts

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kwara State has urged Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to intensify efforts to secure the release of 176 women and children abducted from Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area, saying the victims have remained in captivity for more than 150 days.
The opposition group made the appeal in a statement issued on Sunday, expressing concern over what it described as the prolonged silence surrounding the victims’ plight and calling on the state government not to abandon the affected families.
The NDC recalled that the victims were kidnapped during a deadly attack on Woro community in February and noted that their continued captivity had left families and residents grappling with months of trauma, uncertainty and hardship.
Drawing a comparison with the recent rescue of abducted pupils and teachers in Oyo State, the group said similar efforts should be deployed to secure the freedom of the Woro victims.
It urged the AbdulRazaq administration to collaborate with federal security agencies to ensure the abductees are rescued without further delay.
The group also called for improved security across vulnerable communities in Kwara North, warning that stronger measures are needed to prevent further attacks by armed groups.
The appeal comes amid growing concerns over insecurity in parts of Kwara State, with reports indicating that several kidnapping victims remain in the custody of criminal gangs across the region.
