17 escape death in Lagos boat accident
No fewer than 17 passengers en route to Ebute Ero from Ikorodu, were rescued by the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) on Monday said after their ferry boat capsized.
The general manager, Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, while confirming the incident in a statement released, said that the incident happened at about 7:00 a.m.
Mr Emmanuel said the incident, which occurred around the Third Mainland Bridge, close to the Bariga ferry terminal, involved a commercial passenger ferry named Fazma logistics.
He said all the passengers were, however, rescued by first responders, including officers of the LASWA, adding that the boat was recovered immediately while the boat captain was being interrogated, and an investigation was ongoing.
