We can’t effectively deliver humanitarian aid while Gaza is under heavy, widespread & unrelenting bombardment

In a harrowing development, United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has taken to social media, specifically X, to plead for the safety of humanitarian staff engaged in aid delivery within the Gaza region.

Expressing the dire challenges faced on the ground, Guterres emphasized the inability to effectively provide humanitarian assistance amidst the ongoing heavy, widespread, and unyielding bombardment in Gaza.

Speaking to reporters, Guterres had earlier disclosed a staggering toll, stating that 152 UN staff members have tragically lost their lives in Gaza since October 7.

Describing this as the “largest single loss of life in the history of our organization,” he conveyed profound sorrow over the alarming figure, acknowledging the gravity of the situation.

Highlighting the grim reality on the ground, the UN’s humanitarian agency reported a concerning deterioration in aid access to northern Gaza since December. Shockingly, only 7 out of 29 planned missions to deliver essential supplies such as food, medicine, water, and other necessities have successfully reached their destinations this year.
