13 PDP supporters killed in Plateau autocrash
Thirteen person reported to be members of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been confirmed dead in a truck crash along Pushit – Panyam road in Mangu Local government area of Plateau State.
The medical team of the PDP campaign Council confirmed the casualty figure on Sunday, saying the Jos University Teaching Hospital is managing 24 cases; Nisi Domino hospital in Mangu 20 cases; Infinity Hospital, Mangu 8 cases; Cottage Hospital Mangu 4 cases; Panyam Clinic 8 cases.
Meanwhile, the cases at Allah na Kowa in Mangu have all been transferred to JUTH, while the medical team added 64 victims are receiving treatment from the crash.
Barr Caleb Mutfwang, the Plateau State PDP gubernatorial candidate, has asked his team to provide every assistance possible to the grieving families, while also suspending all campaign activities as a mark of respect to the victims.
“Teams of party and campaign council officials from the secretariats, the zones and local governments have been deployed to the affected family members, according to a statement by Yiljap Abraham Director, Media and Publicity Atiku-Okowa, Mutfwang-Piyo Campaign Council Plateau State. Mutfwang has expressed immense sadness at the losses and called the victims “heroes of our democracy.”
Families have started claiming and performing the burial rites of their loved ones.
