11-year old Nigeria Table Tennis Star makes history at World Championship

Nigeria table tennis youngster, Mattew Kuti has made a mark for himself in the World Table Tennis Youth Series which ended recently in Cairo, Egypt.

The 11-year old who was making in his debut at the competition emerged champions of both U13 and U11 Boys’ Singles titles.

It’s a remarkable achievement for the ping pong star who defeated top seed Steven Moreno 3-1 (5-11, 11-5, 11-9, 11-8) for the U13 title and Vivaan Dave 3-1 (11-7, 7-11, 11-6, 11-6) in the U11 event.

Ikorodu-born Kuti has won several competitions back home and the achievement at the WTT E is a testament to his potentials and towering status.

“I am extremely happy and excited to win the titles. Playing with high-level players here in Cairo is a big pleasure for me.

” Being the champion for two age categories was not easy, I tried so hard to prove that I am doing my best.

“I am very proud to represent my country Nigeria. I will keep fighting to improve my skills and claim more titles in the future”, he said after the games.

The Youth competition was held in Cairo Stadium Indoor Hall Complex Cairo  from 24th-30th of October 2022
