Zamfara removes traditional rulers for instigating bandits
The Zamfara State government has dethroned two emirs and a district head for allegedly instigating bandits within the communities of the state.
The dethroned traditional rulers are the Emir of Dansadau, Hussaini Umar and the Emir of Zurmi, Abubakar Atiku.
Alhaji Sulaiman Ibrahim who’s the District Head of Birnin Tsaba, was also removed.
The information of the dethronement was made available to newsmen by the state Commissioner of Information, Alhaji Ibrahim Magaji Dosara immediately after the Council meeting.
The dethronement was effected subsequent to the recommendation of a six man White Paper Committee set up by the state government to analyze the report of two separate committees earlier set up to investigate the participation of the three first class monarchs in the activities of terrorists in the state.
Recall that the three dethroned traditional rulers had earlier been suspended by the state government due to widespread accusations of accomplicity in the ceaseless crimes committed by bandits in the communities of the state.
As expressed by the information commissioner, the government has also given order that all lands abused by the affected traditional leaders should be addressed and be back to status quo.
“The State Executive Council has also directed the state Ministry of Justice to issue an executive order to back up the council resolution,” he added.
The removal of the traditional rulers was effected 10 months after they were temporarily removed by the state government.
