A kwara-based civil group, Elites Network for Sustainable Development, ENetSuD, has today served the Kwara State Governor, Alh. Abdulrahaman Abdulrazaq with a remainder notice that he has barely 10 days left to assent to the Freedom of Information (FOI) bill passed by the outgone Assembly.
ENetSuD, who lobbied for the domestication of FOI act in Kwara State has expressed that subject to the law which provided for 30-days ultimatum for the executive Governor of the state to sign any bill passed by the State Assembly.
ENetSuD, meanwhile, posted on its official Facebook page that the governor has just 10 days left to assent to the bill, with today, Wednesday marking the twentieth day since the bill was transmitted to the exucutive Govenor.
The civil society organization that had earlier said that it is finding it difficult to track Kwara State Government (KWSG)-funded projects due to the fact that FOI Act has not come into force in the state, as the Kwara State Government use the inoperativeness of the bill to deny the organization access to vital information.
