The Seriki Gambari Descendants Youth Forum has described Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki as a pillar of support and a source of pride to the family, dismissing recent allegations against him as false and politically motivated.
At a press conference held on Sunday in Ilorin, the Forum, led by its President, Abdullah Bukola Seriki, condemned defamatory remarks made by Olaitan Obalowu on Diamond FM, where he alleged that Ambassador Seriki had abandoned his family.
They described the comments as malicious, misleading, and intended to damage Seriki’s reputation.
“These accusations are baseless and fueled by political interests. They do not reflect Ambassador Seriki’s true character or his deep ties to our family and community,” said Amuda Abdulhafeez Seriki, Secretary of the Forum.
The Forum highlighted Seriki’s longstanding commitment to family values, community development, and the preservation of the Seriki Gambari legacy.
They pointed to several high-impact initiatives he has personally championed in the Gambari community, including the interlocking of roads and his generous contribution to the construction of the Gambari Central Mosque.
“His generosity is not just symbolic — it’s practical and far-reaching,” said Mallam Umar Ibrahim Seriki, the Forum’s Treasurer.
They also noted that Ambassador Seriki donated a Toyota Highlander SUV to the current Seriki Gambari in a gesture of loyalty and respect for the family’s traditional leadership.
On youth empowerment, the Forum praised Seriki’s unwavering support for education, job creation and financial assistance to younger members of the family and community.
“He is not a ceremonial figure; his actions reflect a deep commitment to real, grassroots development,” they added.
They stated that Ambassador Seriki, who founded and continues to sponsor the Seriki Gambari Descendants Youth Forum, has pledged a coaster bus to support the them, further reinforcing his commitment to development family development.
“He fulfills every promise he makes. We are confident this will be no exception,” said Umar.
The Forum called on the Obalowu family to caution their son, Olaitan, against making further divisive statements, and urged the public to disregard the allegations.
“Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki is a source of pride to the Seriki Gambari family and a respected figure in our community. We stand firmly with him,” the Secretary concluded said.
