Yahaya Seriki donates N120m to Adabiyyah School’s centenary celebration

Businessman and politician Yahaya Seriki has donated N120 million to support the centenary celebration of Az-Zumuratul Adabiyatul Kamaliyyah School of Arabic and Islamic Studies in Ilorin, Kwara State.

The donation comes as the institution marks 100 years of its contributions to Arabic and Islamic education, moral discipline and the development of generations of scholars and professionals.

The week-long centenary programme celebrates the legacy of the late Sheikh Muhammad Kamalud-Deen Al-Adabiy, popularly known as Alhaji Agba, who founded the institution in 1926.

The anniversary activities, which began with a media briefing in Ilorin, have drawn attention to the late scholar’s contributions to Islamic education, particularly his efforts to combine Arabic and Islamic studies with structured, modern educational methods.

Scholars at the briefing highlighted the continuing relevance of his educational philosophy, which emphasised knowledge, good character, discipline and service to humanity.

The institution’s century-long legacy also extends to the wider Adabiyyah community and the Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria, alongside other educational institutions established under the late scholar’s vision.

The centenary celebration provides an opportunity for alumni, scholars, students and supporters to honour the founder’s legacy and reflect on the future of Arabic and Islamic education.

The anniversary activities are expected to conclude with a grand finale on Sunday, October 11, 2026.
