World Book Day: University donates textbooks to secondary schools in Kwara.

Commemorating the International World Book day, Kwara State University, Malete yesterday gave out books and stationery materials to Elemere Secondary School, Elemere and Government Secondary School, Malete in a bid to deepen literacy amongst the students.

The program which was organized by the KWASU Library Staff and supervised by the Centre for Community Development, was described by Library Coordinator, Dr.(Mrs.) Florence Olabisi Ajani as a tradition in fulfilment of global goals of educational development in the rural communities.

“We gave books to the schools to encourage the reading culture of the students. There is no doubt in our minds that they will make judicious use of this opportunity to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the world. It is our hope every young African child explores the power of studying to develop the continent in the near future,” she addressed.

While delivering the goodwill message, the representatives of the Director Centre for Community Development, Mr Aliyu Alege and
Mr Saliman Sanusi affirmed the university’s dedication to community development in every sphere in line with the university’s vision.

Reacting to the development, the Principals Government Secondary School Malete, Comrade Olateju and Elemere’s Mr Ayinla A.Jimoh expressed gratitude for the material to the Library Staff and University at large, while assuring them that the books will be judiciously used.
