Why Tinubu stumble in Türkiye — Onanuga
Presidential Spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, has clarified the circumstances surrounding President Bola Tinubu’s brief loss of balance during an official engagement in Ankara, Turkey.
Onanuga said the President merely stepped on a metal object on the ground, which caused a momentary stumble, dismissing claims that Tinubu fell or was unwell.
The clarification followed widespread enquiries on Tuesday after a video surfaced showing President Tinubu missing his step while walking alongside Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, shortly after inspecting a guard of honour during a ceremonial reception.
A review of the footage indicated that the incident occurred as a cameraman moved a tripod close to the President’s path.
Reacting, Onanuga said there was no cause for alarm.
“The President stepped on a metal on the floor, which made him lose his balance,” he explained.
“This is not a big deal, except for those who want to make mischief out of a fleeting incident. It was a mere stumble, thank God, not a fall.”
He assured Nigerians that President Tinubu remains in good health and continued his official engagements without interruption.
