We’re taking proactive measures to eradicate malaria: Kwara govt
The Kwara State Government restates its readiness to cooperate with other stakeholders to eradicate malaria in the state.
The Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Abosede Olaitan Buraimoh, reiterated this while receiving members of the Advocacy Team from the Federal Ministry of Health on the zero-malaria programme as part of the campaign on measures by the Federal and State Governments to curb the outbreak of malaria in the country.
Abosede commended the team for the good cause towards making sure that proactive measures are taken for best results in the fight against malaria, reiterating the readiness of the Kwara State Government in making sure that proactive measures are taken to eradicate malaria.
She stated that their cause, which is on zero malaria campaign, “is a plus to the State Government’s efforts towards the well-being of the people of the State.”
She added that the campaign is a practical affirmation of the State Government’s vision to ensure that its people are kept safe from life-threatening ailments.
Highlighting some of the State Government’s efforts so far in the fight against malaria, Abosede noted that a substantial amount of money has been released to the health sector in the State since its inception as the State has invested much in the Health sector.
She further charged the team to continue with the advocacy to keep the people abreast of the damages inherent in malaria.
Earlier, the leader of the team, Mrs. Mary Ogbodo, disclosed that the purpose of the visit was a routine follow-up advocacy on a malaria project in making sure that the State is declared “malaria-free”.
She said the team was at the Ministry to seek its engagement for a specific collaboration and partnership to help sensitize the public by ensuring that the right messages are adequately passed across on malaria prevention and treatment, being foremost in information dissemination in the State.
She further urged the Ministry to continue giving more support to the fight against malaria in the State.
