‘We are proud of you’: Lagos Imam praises Tinubu’s leadership during Jumat prayer
The Chief Imam of Lagos Central Mosque, Ridhwan Jamiu, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership and urged him to continue delivering good governance for Nigerians.
Speaking during the Jumat prayer at Lekki Central Mosque on Friday, Imam Jamiu assured the President of the Muslim community’s prayers and support.
“We are proud of you,” he said. “We thank God that you have not disappointed us. We believe in your capability, competence, and fairness. May Allah continue to guide you as you lead the nation.”
The Imam encouraged Tinubu to remain just and accountable, reminding him that responsibility lies with the people, while accountability is to Allah.
He quoted Prophet Muhammad (SAW), saying, “The most beloved of all people to Allah is the righteous and just leader.”
President Tinubu, who is spending the festive season in Lagos, attended the prayer service as part of his public engagements.
He has been in the city since December 18 after presenting the 2025 budget to the National Assembly.
During his stay, the President has kept a low profile in honour of the victims of recent stampedes in Oyo, Anambra, and the Federal Capital Territory. He cancelled public events, including a planned boat regatta, in their memory.
The President has also hosted the first Presidential Media Chat at his Ikoyi residence and received private visitors as part of the holiday season.
Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, confirmed these activities in a statement released on Friday.
