WAFU B U-20 Championship: Flying Eagles set to battle Cote D’Ivoire for AFCON ticket
The Flying Eagles of Nigeria will take on the Les Petits Éléphants (Young Elephant) of Cote D’Ivoire in the Semifinals of the ongoing U20 WAFU B tournament.
Nigeria defeated Ghana 2-0 last weekend in the opening Group B fixtures before playing out a 2-2 draw against Burkina Faso last Wednesday to reach the last four of the competition going on in Niger Republic.
The last group game played last Saturday between Ghana and Burkinafaso saw the Burkinababes securing a 2-1 victory over the Black Satellites.
In group A, Benin defeated ivory Coast by a lone goal last Friday to finish on top of the group with 7 points while the Ivorians were able to garner 6 points from the group stage matches.
The result means that Ivorian who finished in the second position will face Nigeria for a place in the final and African Cup of Nations slot while Benin will also tackles Burkinafaso.
Coach Isah Ladan Bosso will be hoping to redeem his image in the minds of Nigerians after failing to qualify the team for Nations Cup in their last outing.
While the encounter between Nigeria and Cote D’Ivoire is billed for Niamey Stadium at 8:30 pm Nigerian time on Tuesday, the two finalists will represent the zone in the 2023 U20 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
