The School of the Art Institute of Chicago has withdrawn the honorary degree it bestowed on the popular American rapper, Kanye West in 2015.
This came following the rapper’s recent comments on antisemitism and other uncivil utterances.
The president of the school, Elissa Tenny, has revealed in a letter that the rapper’s honorary degree was withdrawn after the board discovered that “his anti-Black, antisemitic, and incendiary statements, particularly those directed at Black and Jewish communities, are disgusting and condemnable”.
The Informant247 learned that the honorary doctorate degree was bestowed on the veteran rapper in 2015 as reward for his contributions and accomplishments to culture and culture.
Tenny reveals that : “his actions do not align with SAIC’s mission and values.”
