Unity Bank awards N1.6 million to three NYSC members in Kwara for entrepreneurial ventures
Unity Bank Plc has awarded a total of N1.6 million to three National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in Kwara State to support their entrepreneurial ventures.
The award ceremony was held at the NYSC orientation camp in Yikpata, Edu Local Government Area.
The bank’s representative, Bodunrinde David, the representative of Unity Bank Plc, emphasized that Unity Bank has been a long-time partner of the NYSC’s Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, to assisting corps members in raising capital for their start-up businesses or expanding existing ventures.
Bodunrinde reiterated that Unity bank’s ongoing collaboration with the NYSC is focused on nurturing young entrepreneurs and supporting their transition into successful business owners.
In a statement by the NYSC Kwara State Public Relations Officer, Oladipo Morakinyo, said “At the beginning of the orientation courses, corps members were encouraged to submit business proposals at the start of their orientation course.”
“The top ten proposals were selected and invited for a defense before a panel,” he added.
After a rigorous screening process, Nwakaeze Euphemia Chinemerem (KW/24B/2541) emerged as the overall winner, receiving N800,000 to launch her business. Omosimua Fidelia Omoh (KW/24B/2383) secured the second position and was awarded N500,000, while Wasiu Sodiq Kayode (KW/24B/1954) came third, receiving N300,000.
NYSC Kwara State Coordinator, Onifade Olaoluwa, congratulated the winners and urged them to utilize the funds effectively, in line with their business proposals.
He also expressed his appreciation to Unity Bank for its continuous support of the NYSC programme and encouraged other corporate organizations to invest in the future of Nigerian youth through similar initiatives.
