The Ilorin Emirate Student Union announces that it has partnered with Saliu Mustapha Foundation to hold career and mentorship talks in over 100 senior secondary schools across the 5 local governments in the Ilorin Emirate.

Twenty first-class graduates will be invited to share their experiences from their various fields of study to guide and teach young learners, according to a statement by the student group.

The president, Raji Akorede, said that the intent of organizing the talks is to expose students to different career opportunities and instill societal values in them.

He added that the programme intends to shape young minds, preparing them for academic success, role models, and productive members of society.

He furthered that the Saliu Mustapha Foundation is playing a key role in ensuring the success of the program.

“Participants in the ‘Summer Lessons Catch Them Young’ initiative will benefit from mentorship by some of Ilorin’s finest scholars and professionals—first-class graduates who have excelled in fields such as medicine, law, engineering, and the social sciences.

These accomplished individuals will offer insights into their academic journeys, highlighting the perseverance, discipline, and commitment required to achieve excellence,” Raji said.

He mentioned that the talks would cover various aspects of career opportunities, including career talks, personal development, and goal setting, among others.

Educational consultant to the student body, Hajia Fatimoh Dikko, emphasized the importance of providing early mentorship to students.

“This is an opportunity to shape the future of our community. By exposing these young students to role models who have achieved great success in their fields, we are not only inspiring them but also providing them with a roadmap for their own success,” the representative said.

For the Saliu Mustapha Foundation, the project aligns with its commitment to promoting development in Kwara State by fostering quality education.

An aide to Senator Saliu Mustapha, Barrister Alabi AbdulKareem, noted in his remarks that, “The future of our community lies in the hands of these young ones. By investing in their growth and development, we are securing the prosperity of Kwara and Nigeria at large.”
