UN chief decries ‘moral failure’ of COVID-19 vaccine inequality
Two years into the coronavirus epidemic, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres denounced vaccination disparities as a “moral failure.”
Guterres addressed the vaccination gap during the Wednesday launch of a new World Health Organization (WHO) drive to assist developing nations catch up.
Over the following several months, the WHO hoped to raise $16 billion from wealthy nations in order to deliver vaccines, testing, and treatments.
The money for the so-called ACT-Accelerator, on the other hand, may be used to build a pool of 600 million vaccination doses, 700 million tests, and the treatment of 120 million patients, according to the WHO.
