Turaki: Ilorin palace wears new look ahead Saliu Mustapha’s turbaning (PHOTOS)

The Palace of the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, is undergoing massive renovation as part of preparations for the occasion of the turbaning of the new Turaki of Ilorin, Mallam Saliu Mustapha.

The ceremony is set to take place on October 22.

It was learnt that the renovation of some exterior and interior parts of the palace started on Wednesday.

The project is being handled by the director of Casarez Construction Limited, Engr. Muritala Sayi.

The Palace of the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, is undergoing massive renovation as part of preparations for the occasion of the turbaning of the new Turaki of Ilorin, Mallam Saliu Mustapha.

Muritala, a construction consultant to Mustapha, gave assurances that the renovation works would be completed on Tuesday.

Mustapha was in July announced as the new Turaki of Ilorin by the Emir, replacing former Senate President Bukola Saraki, who last held the title.

Other eight sons of the emirate conferred prestigious traditional titles at the same time include; Alhaji Shakariyah Adedeji Onimago, Shettima of Ilorin; Shaykh Yakub Aliagan Al-Adabiyy, Sarkin Malami of Ilorin;
Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, Tafida of Ilorin; Engr. Kale Kawu, Dan Iyan of Ilorin; Dr Muhammad Alimi AbdulRazaq, Mutawali of Ilorin; Alhaji Yakubu Lai Gobir, Madawaki of Ilorin; Shaykh Suleiman Faruq Onikijipa, Mufti of Ilorin; Dr Abdulkadir Salman Oba-Solagberu, Malami Ubandoma of Ilorin.

Of the nine new titleholders, only Onimago has held his turbaning event which took place on Friday, while Mustapha’s is scheduled for October 22 at the Emir’s palace.

Reliable information has it that several chieftains of the governing APC from different parts of the country will grace the occasion of Mustapha’s turbaning, including the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who will be representing President Muhammadu Buhari.

The occasion will be chaired by the Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
