Troops arrest suspected terrorist collaborators, including Chinese National in Borno
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced that troops of Operation Hadin Kai have apprehended several individuals suspected of aiding terrorist activities, including logistics suppliers and a Chinese national who claimed to be a miner.
During a press briefing in Abuja on Friday, Markus Kangye, the director of defence media operations, confirmed that the Chinese national was arrested during “well-coordinated” operations in Kukawa and Ngala Local Government Areas of Borno state.
Kangye stated, “The Chinese national has been detained and he is undergoing interrogation,” adding that investigations are ongoing to determine the suspect’s motives and connections to illegal activities.
“When the interrogation is completed, we will be able to furnish the public with the details of why he was there in the first place, how he was arrested, whether he was the only one there, or he had accomplices,” he explained.
Kangye also noted that many Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists, including adult males, females, and children, surrendered between June 6 and June 11 due to the increased military presence in the region. He emphasized that troops have intensified their operations to tackle security challenges across the country.
“Our military is dedicated to protecting lives and property, upholding the rule of law, and fostering a safe environment for all Nigerians,” he reaffirmed. “We remain dedicated to transparency and will keep the public informed of our ongoing efforts to ensure the stability and security of our great nation.”
