God willing, Nigeria shall remain one – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday warned Nigerians not to allow the civil war that took place from 1967 to 1970 to repeat itself in the life of the country.

The president, who identified self-centredness as the main cause of the civil war that claimed one million lives, however, submitted that Nigerians will remain Nigerians in one indivisible country.

Speaking at the State House, Abuja, while receiving in audience former state chairmen of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), President Buhari said the self-centeredness that led to the loss of about a million lives between 1967-1970 must not be allowed to repeat itself, adding that the CPC was founded on the bedrock of patriotism and loyalty to the unity of Nigeria.

Nigeria can’t afford another civil war, says El-Rufai

Governor Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai of Kaduna State has urged Nigerian youths to shun violence as the country cannot afford a repeat of the 1967 civil war which claimed almost two million lives.

El-Rufai also charged members of the National Youth Service Corps who would be participating in the 2023 general elections to avoid being used as conduit pipe to rig the elections.

The governor stated this at the closing ceremony of the orientation course organized for members of 2022 Batch B (Stream 2) NYSC corps members posted to the state on Tuesday.

El-Rufai, represented on occasion by the state acting Governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, said the civil war was needless savagery that the country could not afford a repeat.

Banditry, terrorism, Muslim-muslim ticket are plans to Islamize Nigeria – Musa

A Kaduna-based sociopolitical critic and former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP chieftain in Kagarko Local Government Area of the state, Musa Danyiska, on Tuesday, said the increasing waves of criminality and banditries across the country, including the choice of a particular party to run Muslim-muslim presidential ticket were part of Islamization agenda.

Musa, a former lecturer with Federal School of Statistics in Kaduna, said even the attacks in some states were aimed at reducing the population of a certain religion to their own advantage, adding “in some states, we have heard of a governor supporting a certain religion more than the other.”

Insecurity: Security operatives arrest suspected terrorists in Lagos

Persons suspected to be terrorists causing havoc in parts of the country have been reportedly arrested in Lagos State.

According to Vanguard, the suspects who were clad in military camouflage and other accouterments were nabbed in different parts of the state recently.

It was gathered that the suspected terrorists were drafted by their sponsors to survey some areas in Lagos for possible attacks.

We’ve killed countless bandits’ leaders – Defence Chief, Irabor boasts

The Chief of Defence Staff, Lucky Irabor, has revealed that the military has killed many bandits’ leaders amid the recent Abuja-Kaduna train attack in Nigeria.

Irabor made this revelation on Tuesday during a meeting with editors and media executives in Abuja.

The Informant247 recalls that some terrorists launched attack and kidnapped passengers of the Abuja-Kaduna-bound train on March 28, 2022.

While addressing the recent train attack, the Chief of Defence Staff revealed that although some victims had been set free, the military and other security agencies have been committed to the safety and freedom of the remaining victims in captivity.

I’ve given N100bn loans to indigenous manufacturers – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday said the Federal Government has disbursed a total of N100 billion to indigenous pharmaceutical manufacturers and healthcare investors as loans.

Buhari said the loan was to expand the capital base of pharmaceutical manufacturers and boost local production of medicines and medical consumables.

Buhari disclosed this in Abuja while receiving the new Executive Members of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA).

Six killed as Shiites, security agents clash in Kaduna

The Islamic Movement of Nigeria, on Monday, said security agents killed at least six of its members and injured about 40 other followers of its leader, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky.

In a short statement, IMN stated that the incident occurred during the group’s Ashura mourning procession in Zaria, Kaduna.

“Security forces have, today, Monday, gunned down at least seven followers of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky (H), and injured over 40 others during the Ashura mourning procession in Zaria which was observed peacefully across Nigeria and different parts of the world,” the statement read.

Gov. AbdulRazaq mourns FIRS official killed by bandits

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has again called on security agencies not to spare any effort to wipe out terrorists and bandits that are terrorising the people of the country.

The governor’s appeal was contained in a condolence message sent to the Emir of Lafiagi, Alhaji Mohammed Kawu, on the murder of a top official of the Federal Internal Revenue Service, Alhaji Mohammed Kudu, who was killed by bandits during an attack between Lapai and Lambata on Ilorin/Mokwa/Minna Road on Sunday.
