Tipper crushes man to death in Osun
A tipper has crushed a middle-aged man to death at Owode-Ede on Friday.
Report has it that the accident happened as the man tried to cross the ever busy Gbongan-Osogbo road at Owode-Ede.
Information gathered revealed that the pedestrian was crushed to death by the tipper that ran him over and dismembered him.
Sources who witnessed the tragic scenario disclosed that the accident eventually caused a traffic jam for a while and also caused shock and confusion for people around the Owode-Ede market.
It was gathered that the driver and his conductor ran away on seeing people were moving in the direction of the scene of the accident.
Paul Okpe, who’s the Osun State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), has confirmed the accident, affirming that a casualty was recorded.
The commander said that the remains of the deceased had been taken to a morgue by his men.
“There was an accident at Owode-Ede. A tipper driver ran into a pedestrian who attempted to cross the road. Our Emergency Team quickly rushed to the area and evacuated the body to a morgue in the State.
“We learnt that the tipper driver ran away. I think when he saw the crowd gathering, he thought they wanted to mob him and ran away with his conductor,” he said.
