Tinubu visits Benue victims at teaching hospital, says Nigerians must unite to end violence
In response to the recent and devastating attack in Yelewata community, which resulted in the death of over 59 individuals, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu visited the surviving victims in the Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
The president’s visit underscores the government’s commitment to addressing the violence that has shaken this region.
On Wednesday, just after arriving at the Tactical Air Command, Nigerian Air Force Base in Makurdi at around 12:58 PM, President Tinubu headed straight to the hospital to meet with the injured victims.
He expressed his heartfelt condolences, stating, “We must unite to end the violence in Benue and ensure the safety of all our citizens.”
Following his hospital visit, the President convened a crucial meeting at the new Banquet Hall of the Benue State Government House, where he engaged with key stakeholders, including families of victims, displaced persons, and community leaders. This meeting aims to explore potential solutions to the escalating violence affecting rural communities in the state.
“We cannot allow these attacks to continue,” Tinubu emphasized during his discussions. The meeting is expected to include a range of participants, such as Governor Hyacinth Alia, fellow governors from the North-Central states, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and other prominent political figures.
In recognition of the significance of the occasion, the state government declared a public holiday, signaling the importance of coming together in solidarity during this critical time. President Tinubu’s visit and the planned meetings reflect a united effort to seek peace and restore stability in Benue State.
