Tinubu returns to Abuja after 2-day official visit to Qatar

Nigerian President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Monday, arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja after a two-day official visit to the State of Qatar on the invitation of the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The Informant247 gathered that the presidential jet conveying the President arrived around 6:50 pm and was received by government officials, which include Vice President Kashim Shettima, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Others were the Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, and the Director-General of the Department of State Services, Yusuf Bichi.

During the visit, the Nigerian officials signed seven bilateral agreements with their Qatari counterparts in various sectors of the economy.

The signing of the agreements, which was witnessed alongside the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, after a closed-door meeting between the two leaders, includes cooperation agreement in the field of education, regulation of employment of workers with the Government of Qatar; establishment of a joint business council between the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture.

There were also agreements in the area of cooperation in the field of youths and sports, collaboration in the field of tourism and business events, and a memorandum of understanding aimed at combating illicit trade in narcotic drugs and other substances.

The documents were signed on behalf of Nigeria by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, and relevant officials in the Government of the State of Qatar.

President Tinubu also presided over the Nigeria-Qatar Business and Investment Forum, where he asked Qatari businessmen to report any Nigerian official who demanded a bribe from them before allowing them to conduct business in the country.
