Three killed, two injured in fresh Plateau attack

An attack at Nkienzha, Miango District of Rigwe Chiefdom, Bassa local government area of Plateau State, has claimed the lives of no fewer than three persons while two others sustained various degrees of injuries

Captain Oya James, the spokesperson of Operation Safe Haven, while confirming the incident, said the timely response of the troops made the attackers flee the community.

The Publicity Secretary of the Irigwe Development Association (IDA), Davidson Malison, while also confirming the incident to newsmen on Monday, stated that two persons were killed on Sunday night, while one other was killed on Saturday.

IDA accused herders of being responsible for the attack, an accusation denied by the chairman of Gan Allah Fulani Development Association of Nigeria (GAFDAN), Garba Abdullahi.

Malison identified the deceased as Gadan Zhwe (50), Lydia Yakubu (48), Nuhu Yakubu (23), and Musa Wolo (32).

“The leadership of the Rigwe Nation through the Traditional Council and the Development Association, IDA, have described the resurgence of attacks and killing as callous and barbaric and cautioned the perpetrators to immediately halt the mayhem being unleashed in the land. IDA is calling on the security agencies to apprehend and make them face the wrath of the law.”

“We equally call on the constituted authorities to do the needful in order to restore normalcy in the land so that we can continue our activities without hitches and glitches,” the group said.
