The Oloota of Odo-Owa in Oke-Ero Local Government Area of Kwara State, Oba Joshua Adeyemi Adimula has refuted an online report that alleged a clash between the youths of the community and the Fulani herdsmen.

It will be recalled that an online medium, Daily Post, reported last week that a group of angry youths in Odo-Owa protested against the presence of Fulani herdsmen in their community, giving them ultimatum to vacate their land.

The monarch, in his reaction, while addressing our reporter, Kayode Adeoti,  said nothing of such development happened in his community under his watch adding that the online medium failed to do proper investigation before publishing the news.

He urged sons and daughters of the ancient town both at home and in the diaspora to disregard the news and focus on the unity and togetherness of everyone leaving in Odo-Owa.

Oloota added that no one burn the police station and no building was destroyed as reported in the Daily Post.

He said, “The report is malicious, misleading and there is no truth in it. The community has co-existed with the Fulanis for years and we’ve maintained a cordial, romantic and peaceful relationship.

“The report making rounds in the social media is nothing but false and baseless. It’s quite disheartening when our online medium to carry such damaging news. It’s as if it’s targeted to soil the good name of the community. For me, I won’t accept that.

“I’ve always been an advocate of peace in my community and among the ethnic groups we have. Odo-Owa is different and no one can cause separation among us.”

The monarch however warned individuals, media houses, bloggers and any other persons who may try to injure the character of the community through any means to desist and pursue peace.

“I’m not saying the blogger should not do their job but they should desist from carrying an unfounded report that is capacity of setting community ablaze. We may not take it lightly if such misleading news is reported again.”
