‘The future belongs to you’ – Kwara Commissioner urges youth to embrace agriculture

The Kwara State Commissioner for Youth Development, Amb. Ndanusa Usman Shehu has voiced the state government’s unwavering support for youth-driven agricultural initiatives aimed at enhancing youth development.

The Commissioner made this known while delivering his keynote address at the Kwara South Consultative Youth Forum’s Annual Agriculture Summit, which took place at the Igbomina House Hall under the theme “Empowering Youth Through Agriculture.”

In his address, Amb. Ndanusa lauded the youth of Kwara South for their vision and determination, encouraging them to take charge of their future. He underscored the potential of agriculture as a viable and fast-growing sector capable of providing thousands of jobs for unemployed youths with minimal initial investment.

“With minimal resources, any determined youth can succeed in agriculture. The government of today stands solidly behind you. We are not just supporting you from afar; we are also walking this journey with you,” he said.

He further acknowledged the efforts of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, commending his inclusive policies and steadfast commitment to youth empowerment, which have paved the way for opportunities like this summit.

Deputy Chief of Staff Princess Bukola Babalola, who represented the Chief of Staff, delivered a goodwill message, urging the youth to remain committed and to take pride in representing their communities.

She emphasized the state’s alignment with youth agricultural objectives, stating, “This government is not just watching; you are part of the plan. Agriculture is not just about farming; it is about building a future that belongs to you.”

Comrade Gabriel Omoniyi, President of the Kwara South Youth Forum, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the state’s responsiveness to youth issues, asserting that the summit would inspire a renewed sense of independence, self-reliance, and job creation among the youth in Kwara South.

The event was graced by other notable attendees, including the Commissioner for Livestock Development, Mrs. Oluwatoyosi Thomas, Chief Engr. Daramola, and Prince Goke Folayan of Ekan Kingdom, along with numerous agricultural experts, stakeholders, and community leaders.
