Terrorists take over Kainji National Park, establish camp in Niger

Kainji National Park, New Bussa, Borgu local government area of Niger state, have been taken over by terrorists and equally established camp inside the park.

The Informant247 gathered that the terrorists come out daily from their hideouts to attack travellers along the busy Wawa-Luma highway which connects to the Benin Republic.

It was also learned that staff of the National Park have stopped going to work after they were attacked several times by terrorists leaving some of them injured.

According to a source from one of the communities around the National Park, Aliyu Umar, claimed that there are a large number of terrorists occupying the park, adding that the activities of the terrorists have made many residents abandon their farms with business activities affected.

The terrorists, according to the source, abducted 10 passengers in a commercial Sharon bus along the Wawa-Luma Road and injured three others on a motorcycle last Tuesday.

Efforts to get Niger police spokesman, DSP Abiodun Wasiu proved abortive. His mobile was not going through at the time of filing this report.

The Vice Chairman of Borgu Local government area, Mallam Abdullahi Mohammed Nasir confirmed the development, describing it as very worrisome and disturbing.
