Terrorists mount road block in Nigeria’s Kaduna state, kill 2, abduct several others

KADUNA, Nigeria (The Informant247) – Terrorists mounted a road block at Birnin-Gwari to Funtua Road in northeast Nigeria, where they opened fire on travellers killing at least two and abducting several others, locals said.

The Chairman of Birnin-Gwari’s community, Ishaq Kasai, in a statement on Monday, said the terrorists killed a commercial driver and abducted several travelers.

“The road is still a no-transit zone. As it is now, most communities that are along that road such as Kwasa-kwasa, Marabar Kwasa-kwasa, Nacibi, and Farin Ruwa among others are being deserted for fear of any eventuality,” Kasai said.

He furthered that the bandits attacked Damari community on Saturday around 10PM, killed one person killed and looted several shops.

Kasai, therefore, said there was the need for mobilisation of troops to the western part of Birnin-Gwari, particularly in the Kakangi and Randagi axis which shares boundaries with Northern Zamfara and Niger States.

President Muhammadu Buhari has repeatedly said that the country’s security forces are winning the battle against what he calls “terrorism” in northern Nigeria.

But locals are increasingly concerned about the rising spate of abduction for ransom and attacks in the region.
