Taiwo Awoniyi ‘OUT’ of induced coma after surgery

A good news emerging from the United Kingdom late on Wednesday is that Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest Taiwo Awoniyi is now out of his induced coma having undergone emergency surgery on an abdominal injury.

The Nigerian International suffered an injury when he  collided with a post against Leicester on Sunday where they played a 2-2 draw.

Awoniyi had earlier on Monday night underwent an emergency surgery to help recover from what was established as an abdominal injury. He was consequently placed into a coma to help restrict his movement and regulate his heart rate following the surgery, even though his condition wasn’t thought to be life threatening.

Meanwhile, the Mail Online now report that the second part of the procedure was completed on Wednesday as he’s now out of Coma. His condition is subsequently being monitored in hospital as he is awake and recovering with his family.

The injury was welcomed with huge concerns across Nigeria with many offering their supports and prayers for the striker.

No information yet on how long his rehabilitation will take even as the Premier League season is now also in its twilight with just fixtures remaining to be played.
