”Suya” seller bagged 30 days imprisonment for attempting to steal car
A 50-year-old ‘suya” seller, Sani Ali, was on Friday sentenced to 30 days imprisonment over attempt to steal a car.
Ali was sentenced to 30 days imprisonment on the order of an Area Court in Jos.
Malam Adam Sadiq and Hyacinth Dolnaan, the panel of two magistrates who made the pronouncement sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the charge of theft and p persuaded the court for mercy.
The convict was given an option of N 10,000 fine.
Insp Monday Dabit, who’s the Prosecution Counsel, earlier informed the court that the matter was on October 21, brought to the awareness of the law enforcement agency at the ‘A’ Division Police station by Mr Audu Julius.
He narrated that the convict forced his way into the complainant’s car and attempted to steal the car.
The prosecutor further informed the court that during the investigation of the police, Ali admitted to committing the crime.
He said the offence was a violation of the provisions of sections 333 and 57 of the penal code Plateau State Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria.
