Sokoto: My residence not burnt, Kukah debunks fake news

Matthew Kukah, Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, has falsified the reports that his Sokoto residence has been burnt down by an angry mob, on Saturday.

The Informant247 had reported the killing of Deborah Samuel, a 200-level student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, over alleged blasphemy.

The police had apprehended two suspects connected with the sad incident. Some protesters on Saturday had however taken to the street to protest their arrest and demand their immediate release.

In order to ameliorate the tension in the state, Governor Aminu Tambuwal has declared a 24-hour curfew.

Rumors have it that Kukah’s residence had been set on fire. But the cleric has denied that his house was burnt down.

“No, they did not burn my residence,” Kukah was quoted to have said.
