Six Delta rep members move to APC as two other members from Enugu dump LP for PDP

In a major political realignment, members of the House of Representatives from Delta State have officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), while two lawmakers from Enugu State have shifted their allegiance from the Labour Party (LP) to the PDP.

The announcements were made during a plenary session on Tuesday, where the letters of defection were read before the assembled lawmakers. Leading the group of defectors from Delta State is Nicholas Mutu (Bomadi), a longtime member of the House who has represented his constituency since 1999. Other Delta lawmakers making the switch include Nnamdi Ezechi (Ndokwa/Nkwuani), Jonathan Okodiko (Isoko), Thomas Eriyetomi (Warri), Julius Pondi (Burutu), and Victor Nwokolo (Ika North and South).

From Enugu State, Mark Obetta (Nsukka/Igboeze South) and Dennis Agbo (Igbo Eze North/Udenu) have left the LP to join the PDP. The defectors cited internal crises within their former parties as the impetus for their shift to new political affiliations.

This wave of defections follows the recent exit of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa from the PDP to the APC, marking a significant period of political reorganization in the region.
