The popular Nigerian singer, Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, professionally known as D’Banj, has reacted to his recent arrest and detention by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC), over alleged N-Power funds fraud.
The Nigerian music star broke silence hours after being released by the agency.
D’banj revealed that he’s not into fraud and had no fraudulent business.
He made this revelation in a post via his official Instagram page.
He further said he has complemented the investigation of the agency and appreciated people for giving him support.
The veteran singer wrote: “Global thank you to the world. I was invited on an ongoing investigation in ICPC. I have assisted the commission with all I know and I am confident in their capacity to unravel the truth. I have no business with fraud, all I do is chop life. I was released on self-recognition because nothing was seen or found on me. God bless you all my people.”
Some hours ago, the music star regained his freedom from the detention of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC.
He was released to his attorney, Pelumi Olajengbesi, after spending 3 days in the custody of the ICPC.
He was set free on the ground that he may be reinvited later for further interrogation.
The ICPC arrested and detained him on Tuesday at the headquarters of the agency in Abuja.
He was arrested and detained over alleged fraud.
He was alleged of diversion of hundreds of naira budgeted by the federal government for the payment of N-Power project.
The N-Power project was an empowerment programme set up by the federal government in 2016 to reduce unemployment in the country.
Report has it that the Nigerian singer collaborated with the officials of government include fake beneficiaries into the payroll of the scheme.
It was gathered that the funds to be paid to the fake beneficiaries have allegedly taxed to the singer.
