‘Seyi Tinubu deserves Minister of Youth’, 30 APC youth leaders snub Dayo Israel
Tensions rise within the ranks of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the quest for the Minister of Youth role sparks divisions among its youth members.
A distinct rift has emerged, with one faction of APC youth leaders lending their support to Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu, for the position of Minister of Youth.
In contrast, another bloc of the party’s young members has opted to overlook their National Youth Leader, Dayo Isreal.
In an open letter dated August 21, entitled “Clarion Call for a Purposeful Minister of Youth that is Fit for the Job,” over 30 state youth leaders within the party dismissed Israel in favor of endorsing Seyi for the role.
The youth leaders cited Seyi’s substantial efforts in bolstering the youth wing of the party as the reason behind their endorsement.
They commended his commitment, highlighting instances where he traversed the nation during the elections to rally support for the Tinubu-led administration.
Expressing their conviction, the youth leaders suggested that Seyi’s nomination would prove advantageous due to his profound understanding of the significance of a robust Ministry of Youths.
They anticipate that his presence in the position would address the pressing concerns and aspirations of youth across the nation.
This endorsement comes in the wake of Tinubu’s reassignment of Abubakar Momoh from the Youth Ministry to the Ministry of Niger Delta Development.
The redeployment followed public outcry that highlighted Momoh’s lack of youth credentials.
As the APC navigates the intricate landscape of its internal dynamics, the contest for the Minister of Youth role serves as a backdrop to the multifaceted nature of political decision-making and the diverse aspirations within the party’s youth membership.
