Sexual harassment: Judge withdraws from Natasha’s case amid allegations of bias
Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja has formally recused himself from the ongoing case involving suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central Senatorial District. The announcement came during court proceedings on Tuesday, as counsels for the involved parties presented their appearances.
The judge indicated that he was stepping down primarily due to allegations of bias raised by the third defendant in the case, Senate President Godswill Akpabio. Senator Akpabio had previously voiced concerns about the court’s ability to impartially adjudicate the matter, which prompted Justice Egwuatu’s decision to withdraw.
In a step towards maintaining judicial integrity, the case file will be submitted to Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, for reassignment to another judge. This development marks a crucial turn in what has become a high-profile legal battle.
