Seven shops affected as fire razes Ita-Amo market in Ilorin
A fire outbreak on Friday night destroyed no fewer than seven shops at Olusola Saraki Market, Ita-Amo, in the Ilorin west local government area of Kwara State.
According to reports, the incident was caused by a power surge following the fluctuating power supply from the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC).
However, the Kwara State Fire Service, while confirming the inferno in a statement by its media and publicity Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, said the State Fire Service received a distress call reporting a fire outbreak on Friday, 10 January 2025, at about 9:36 pm, adding that the firefighters promptly deployed to the scene where they discovered multiple shops ablaze in a market comprising 276 shops.
