Seriki: Kwarans enjoying improved governance under AbdulRazaq
The Chairman of Kursi Investment Limited, AbdulFatah Yahaya Seriki-Gambari, says Kwarans are now enjoying improved governance under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
He said the governor displayed an uncommon commitment to the growth and advancement of the state through programmes and policies targeted at all Kwarans, especially the poorest of the poor.
The business mogul cum politician disclosed this in a phone interview with THE INFORMANT247 today (Wednesday).
He said that AbdulRazaq inherited “a highly debased state” from the immediate past administration, a situation which, he said, prevented some of the steps taken by Governor AbdulRazaq to have instantaneous effect.
The philanthropist said, “Yes, he (Governor AbdulRazaq) is changing the narratives here, in a bid revamp the education sector, he released N450m that the previous administration had diverted from the UBEC funds, clearing the way for immediate readmission of Kwara to a scheme that is meant to improve access to basic education. Now, the state is about to access 14 billion naira, which would be injected into the education sector.
“Likewise in the health sector, he released N282m is a counterpart funding to deepen access to primary healthcare, health insurance and nutrition for under-three children in the state. The way he is managing the coronavirus pandemic and the state economy simultaneous is indeed a very great feat.
“In addition, the governor has given enough priority to the water reticulation project that engulfed about 6.1 billion from the previous administration, with no effect. Now, the story has changed. You can walk around Ilorin metropolis, most homes now have access to clean water.
“Infrastructural development as well is top notch. From renovation of agency’s office, like Kwara State Fire Service, to roads rehabilitation and repair among several others.
“Unlike previous administrations, this government is investing heavily on roads, the beauty of it is that he is focused and his impact is being felt across all critical sectors of our economy.”
“All these set the record straight and show the side of history our dear governor is trailing,” he stated.
